Tsai Design Studio is a design-focused architectural practice based in Cape Town, South Africa. The studio has a diverse portfolio of on-going projects located in South Africa and Africa, all carries our hallmark of creativity, innovation and experimentation.
Spear headed by architect Y. Tsai, the studio strives to use design as a tool to make social impact and to shape behaviour while making beautiful architecture. This is evident from projects such as the Moyo Urban Farm, where agriculture meets architecture; Zip Zap Academy, Africa’s one and only custom-designed social circus school; and A&C Corner, a retail centre that is set to become Ghana’s first Edge certified building once completed. From 2013-2017, Y. Tsai was the creative director for Open Design, Cape Town’s annual design festival.
