As a lecturer, researcher, curator, urban designer and PhD candidate, my research interests encompass radical architectural pedagogy, critical design methods, African urbanism, decolonisation, and the intersections of queer politics with the built environment. I bring over 10 years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervising master’s students. The courses I have taught or currently teach include Architectural Design, Interdisciplinary Design and (RE)Presentation, Architectural Technology and Detailing, Principles of Urban Design, Landscape Urbanism and Architecture, Transforming City Studio, and Urban Design History and Theory. I have conducted extensive examinations across architectural institutions in South Africa. My scholarly contributions have been presented at academic conferences, industry expos, and in peer-reviewed journals. I am a candidate of the 2018 United States International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) on “Resilient Cities-Urban Sustainability.” Unit 15X, a unit at the GSA that I co-taught between 2018 and 2021, was the recipient of World Bank Grant funding in 2019-2020 for a research project concerning the Dar es Salaam Open Public Space Upgrade (DOPSU). Additionally, I received the University of Johannesburg’s teaching innovation grant in 2017 and 2019. I have collaborated with Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, and Ardhi University in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, working on interdisciplinary and multilevel design city studios.

I also have industry experience with numerous architectural and urban design practices in Johannesburg, most notably with ASM Architects and Urban Designers. I served on the Urban Design Institute of South Africa (UDISA) Steering Committee from 2021 to 2022.
